The US military budget

The U.S. military budget for 2011 is over $1 trillion.
That’s $1.98 million every minute http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_budget_of_the_United_States http://www.oneminuteforpeace.org/budget

Army Funds ‘Synthetic Telepathy’ Research - The Army has given a team of University of California researchers a $4 million grant to study the foundations of "synthetic telepathy." But unlike old-school mind-melds, this seemingly psychic communication would be computer-mediated.

Technologies Fundamental to the Established Order

The basis of the semiconductor industry is silicon. One source for silicon is quartz crystal, SiO2. (Atomic number Si 14; O 8 carbon 6 4 valence electrons, as carbon) In metals, only electrons can carry charge; in semiconductors, electrons and absense of electrons (holes) can carry charge. A pure semiconductor is a thermister, which is used as a temperature sensor: an incremental temperature increase increases number of electrons and holes. The most useful semiconductors have precise amounts of contaminants introduced. The most useful semiconductor product is the transistor, which can control circuits. p-n & n-p. Computers are made from millions or even billions of transistors. The technical properties of semiconductors are at the core of the defense industry, and has spawned a vast industrial commercial enterprise, with spill over nto consumer products. Nano technology is making possible much smaller electrical circuits, which in turn will make possible incredible new semiconductor products.

[Wikipedia on semiconductors ]
Semiconductors - A semiconductor is a material that has electrical conductivity between those of a conductor and an insulator. The conductivity of a semiconductor material can be varied under an external electrical field. Devices made from semiconductor materials are the foundation of modern electronics, including radio, computers, telephones, and many other devices. Semiconductor devices include the transistor, many kinds of diodes including the light-emitting diode, the silicon controlled rectifier, and digital and analog integrated circuits. Solar photovoltaic panels are large semiconductor devices that directly convert light energy into electrical energy.

[Wikipedia on the semiconductor Industry]
Semiconductor industry - The semiconductor industry is the aggregate collection of companies engaged in the design and fabrication of semiconductor devices. It formed around 1960, once the fabrication of semiconductors became a viable business. It has since grown to be the $213 billion dollar industry it is today The global semiconductor industry is dominated by Taiwan, South Korea, USA, and Japan. Despite experiencing a downfall in the semiconductor market, Japan is still major leader in the industry. The U.S. industry faces challenges to development by some forms of government regulation. The U.S. government regulates exports and certain uses of some types of semiconductors due to their potential dual use in military applications.

To Go Beyond - To attain the velocities needeed for exploration, space engines must exhibit high specific impulse: I= F/Wdot: F is thrust; Wdot is weight of propellant consumed per second. Space engines use electric and magnetic forces to eject plasma particles, as in current ion engines and Hall effect thrusters

Does Jupiter have new bolts? - LOOK at it this way: an outfit founded and paid for by a Texan fried-chicken magnate hires (among others) a physicist who has done government-sponsored work on extra-sensory perception. After nine years of secretive research it says it has discovered that one of the basic laws of electronics can be breached and that its ideas can revolutionise the world of high technology. That is how sceptics would describe the activities of Jupiter Technologies of Austin, Texas.

Low Intensity Conflict and Modern Technology, edited by Lt. Col. David J. Dean, U.S.A.F. High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP)

[On-line articleby Dan Eden http://www.viewzone.com/haarp00.html]
Introduction to HAARP - Albert Einstein's theories of relativity and the development of atomic energy are seen as the pinnacles of Twentieth Century technology. But Bernard Eastlund's discoveries, when they are eventually disclosed, will render many of Einstein's innovations obsolete. You've probably never heard of Bernard Eastlund. If the US military has their way, you probably won't. He's a very private physicist with a small company in Houston. In the mid-80's, Eastlund invented and patented a technology that will nevertheless reshape our lives, for better or for worse, whether we like it or not.

And for years, the Pentagon has been pooh-poohing speculation that the enormous collection of transmitters, radars, and magnetometers in Alaska was some sort of superweapon. But, it turns out, the conspiracy theorists may not have been entirely off-base, after all.

Nick Begich Interviewed By Kenneth Burke - The U.S. Government has a new, ground-based "Star Wars" weapon which is being tested in the remote bush country of Alaska. This new system is intended to heat and lift a portion of the ionosphere above a selected location on the planet in order to make a huge invisible "mirror" for bouncing electromagnetic radiation back to the surface of Earth. Is it wise to poke a hole, as it will do, in Earth's electrical umbrella? Is it wise to prod a dynamic natural system without knowing how it will react?

[Environmental Warfare: From Unless Peace Comes, by Gordan MacDonald 1968]
How to Wreck the Planet - Among future means of obtaining national objectives by force, one possibility hinges on man’s ability to control and manipulate the environment of his planet. When achieved, this power over his environment will provide man with a new force capable of doing great and indiscriminate damage. Our present primitive understanding of deliberate environmental change makes it difficult to imagine a world in which geophysical warfare is practised. Such a world might be one in which nuclear weapons were effectively banned and the weapons of mass destruction were those of environmental catastrophe. As I will argue, these weapons are peculiarly suited for covert or secret wars.

Weather War? - New evidence suggests US & Russia are embroiled in an illegal race to harness the power of hurricanes & earthquakes. THE huge mushroom cloud soared skywards, the captain was gripped by fear, believing his plane was about to be engulfed by the fall-out from a nuclear explosion. After declaring mayday and ordering his crew to don oxygen masks, the experienced pilot had the presence of mind to record that the cloud measured an estimated 200 miles in diameter and was tipped by an eerie light, like nothing he had seen before. Eventually, it soared harmlessly into the atmosphere, leaving the passenger jet to continue safely on its journey from Anchorage, in Alaska, to Tokyo.

Hurricanes of 2005 were filled with mysterious lightning - The boom of thunder and crackle of lightning generally mean one thing: a storm is coming. Curiously, though, the biggest storms of all, hurricanes, are notoriously lacking in lightning. Hurricanes blow, they rain, they flood, but seldom do they crackle. Surprise: During the record-setting hurricane season of 2005 three of the most powerful storms--Rita, Katrina, and Emily--did have lightning, lots of it. And researchers would like to know why.
